I got little sleep last night & was fitful for what I did get, so I’m home today, no driving for me. But I woke up thinking about the horror movies that were on First Choice/Superchannel back in the very early 80s. Poltergeist, American Werewolf In London & Halloween 3. Let’s watch them!

A childhood fave in the sense that just about anything that aired on First Choice Superchannel in the mid-to-late 80s was a childhood fave. Fond memories of the swear jar, giving the wrong finger, and some juvenile hi-jinx that, at the time, made me wish I had a twin. May need to revisit.

I'm disappointed in the introduction to the Ray Bradbury Theater Wikipedia page. It MIGHT be airing on Comet? MAY be available on Prime? "Theater" and "Theatre"? Disappointingly sloppy for what's supposed to be a factual article.

50 years ago, Sep 21:
Second City Television (SCTV) makes its television debut. Developed by Bernard Sahlins and Andrew Alexander. Originally ran for 6 seasons from 1976 to 1984 across Global, CBC and Superchannel in Canada.

Also, at home in the NY and just before going back for the winter term, I caught a late night ITV post pub Superchannel trailer (in between the hits and Amanda Reddington links on that euro sub-MTV thing). The clip they used from Genesis of the Daleks was like they’d thrown ice water in my face.

100% agree! (For Canadians on here, it’s on Amazon Prime not Netflix). There were actually FOUR intro themes originally (none of which they’ve used for the Netflix/Prime versions). Previous versions were:
#1 Global TV years
#2 CBC/NBC years
#3 Superchannel/Cinemax
#4 syndicated version

The first few episodes of Season 4 recycle a lot of the best stuff from the beginning as it gets its legs. Season 6 is what they did for Cinemax and the Canadian Pay TV service Superchannel with only 4 of the original cast, still funny but not as wall to wall incredible as their glory years

Up north, it's only available on Prime, which is a bit odd in that it's not ANY of the Canadian network platforms that ran the series the first time around (Global, CBC and Superchannel). You'd think at least one of them would've scooped up the rights long ago...

SCTV is up on Netflix and guess what? They are the original episodes the aired on Global, CBC and Superchannel rather than the episodes that aired in syndication, which helps retain it's "broadcast day" format. #TVSky

Movie buffs! I saw a telefilm in the early 80s. Maybe on Superchannel in Canada. It was set a few years in the future. Quebec had separated and Quebec and Canada were on the brink of war. The film was entirely the talks to divert a war. No one (even Google) remembers it! Anyone? #tcm #film #cancon
