#SupermanIV is not a good movie, but it has one of my very favorite scenes with Chris Reeve in the role.

“And there will be peace. There will be peace when the people of the world, want it so badly, that their governments will have no choice but to give it to them.”

We do not, as a culture, talk enough about Jon Cryer's performance in #SupermanIV.
A young Jon Cryer dressed as an '80s punk, with a bleached faux-hawk and loud leopard-print coat. He sits in a white convertible, smirking and showing off an unremarkable-looking watch.

#SupermanIV features some of the most dramatic shoulder pads I have ever seen in my life. 😆

(Though, I dunno, I might still rank it above #SupermanIII so far.)
A young boy is interviewed at a press conference. Behind him, a tall, pretty woman stands like Lurch, oversized shoulder pads making her look like she has tiny hands, over-long arms, and is shrugging dramatically.

The Supermaniacs podcast is about to dive into Superman IV: The Quest for Peace! Yes, it’s a wild weird mess. But… we have a soft spot for this birthday chapter in Superman's history. Anyone else out there secretly love this beautifully bonkers trainwreck?

Clark declaring that he's going to rid the planet of nuclear weapons is...I mean, okay, yeah, it's a great idea. But uh, pretty sure some countries would take that as an act of war. Like, you know. The US itself. #SupermanIV

There's something bizarelly iconic about #SupermanIV. Christopher Reeve becoming the villian to become the hero. Richard Pryor with a truly good heart getting by with ideas that can be used for good or evil. @mrjoncryer.bsky.social as sort of a trickster guide mayhaps. Lex lexing. Colorfully grey
