Did you know that in some countries with much more restrictive firearms laws than the US, suppressors require no additional licensure if you already are allowed to own guns?
That's because most suppressors are safety devices. They take the sound of gunfire from "deafening" to just "very loud".

Suppressors reduce but do not eliminate the sound of a gunshot. They are great for reducing hearing damage from shooting.

ATF just announced that they will no longer enforce NFA requirements for short barreled rifles or suppressors after deciding not to appeal this decision.

One cool consequence of the NFA going unenforced is now you can experiment with all kinds of improvised suppressors. Adapting oil filters and shit like that can be a fun backyard hobby instead of deeply criminal felonies.

Also I don't think this person understands how suppressors work with supersonic rounds (pretty much any rifle round).
