New, from me: A campus right wing group staged an event intended to generate conflict. It did. A professor disparaged them. The group recorded him, fed the recording to supportive media. He is no longer teaching his class.

This is today's surveilled campus.

You know that police drone in the sky? Those license plate readers? Oh, and the worried feeling you get about your data being collected as you interact with your devices? Yeah, that shouldn't be the norm. That's why we're fighting back: takebackctrl.org/stop-survei...

We know a lot of feds are already scared of retaliation and may be hesitant to join protests. And clearly union leaders are being targeted. But we're here to say that we still have 1st amendment rights and there are ways you can protect yourself from surveillance (www.eff.org/pages/survei...).
An LAPD helicopter claimed to have ID'ed protesters from above and threatened to "come to your house."

The threat was greeted with extreme concern by civil liberties and digital privacy groups. It suggests the LAPD could be using facial recognition to identify and retaliate against protesters.

The practice, an expert warns, could lead to "reprisals and retribution by the police for your politics.”

Government and law enforcement have demonstrated that they are willing to use every tool available to spy on protesters, people seeking abortions, immigrants, and many others. That’s why we need to fight surveillance where it matters most: our local communities. takebackctrl.org/stop-survei...

The geographical spread of the rankings, and how they align with more conservative voting patterns, suggest an underlying bias. Michigan Tech, the top ranked school, put a professor on leave after students secretly recorded him criticizing Turning Point. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/the-survei...
