Peak liberal policy:

"We know many of you are saying you don't want an American suveillance company to steal all you sensitive data. We in the Government hear you. We see you. That's why we're launching a search to hire a British surveillance company to steal all your sensitive data. Please clap."

Though kinda less worried about nightmares of AGI than I am what this massive waste, slop, disinformation and error and suveillance mill is already standing to do despite there being no apparent market value of any product or such from making it this big and hungry while there's a bubble.

This thing they call AI is and will only ever be a tool for control, suveillance, fascism, and, ultimately, genocide.

If you're interested, the first I heard of what's now called suveillance pricing was all the way back in 2005 in British economics journalist Tim Harford's book called The Undercover Economist. He suggested not playing games on Facebook.

Thomson Reuters, which owns news agency Reuters, has signed a $125M deal giving ICE access to its databases of personal data.

USA Today has partnered with Palantir to gain "actionable intelligence" on its audiences.

The media should be opponents of Trump's police state — not collaborators.

You could now mass fires w/o having to mass people.

If the trend of the discussion is right, b/c of suveillance/drones/missiles you cannot achieve mass on the ground anymore.

So now what?

WTF is going on with this lady's hand??? (I know it's just AI generated slop. The corpo lobbyists opposing suveillance pricing don't even respect Seattle voters enough to hire actual humans to make their oppo ad.)

@loweshomeimrovent.bsky.social Why do you have Flock cameras at your stores? Do you feel good about your role in supporting a suveillance state? For every 100,000 cars that get scanned, how many of them are thieves from your stores? .005%? Wake up, Lowes! www.fastcompany.com/91531608/low...
Lowe's faces pressure to cut ties with Flock Safety as AI surveillance data raises serious privacy concerns
Advocates led by Fight for the Future have demanded that the retailer terminate its contracts with the controversial AI-powered security startup.

I figured out what the data centers are for, it's for when the suveillance state implants a 666 chip into our right hands, or foreheads, and we cannot buy or sell without them, and must sacrifice our firstborns to Antichrist Trump, in gigantic industrial death-camps.

Read the "Recommendations for commercial artificial intelligence" section at the bottom. It explicitly tackles this question, and focuses on the ethical implications of maths being used to improve general intelligence that could then be used in warfare or suveillance....

Wonder what tracking cookies & google searches do? Track shopping/viewing habits to sell items? It can also charge higher prices due to surveillance pricing. If you can afford more, charged more. Our spending habits, credit card limits, bank balances are all online.

The DoW (US Department of War) wanted AI for mass suveillance and autonomous weapons. Anthropic held the line and said NO. In the blink of an eye, OpenAI showed up and signed.
Do you think Trump administration will uphold its policy?

Looks like Sam Altman finally found a way to make lots of money.

They knew about his presence at the hotel, but his room wasn't under suveillance? SS aren't what they used to be.

In my view it will need to be a proper military, but a coast guard territorial suveillance & interdiction service model would replicate the most useful 50% of that at a tiny fraction of the political, moral, and financial cost

i used to be really high-strung about "problematic art" and there's still some stuff that's a really hard line for me, personally. but im more against, y'know, sending people to prison or constructing social medial suveillance panopticons than i am art that grosses me out, Actually.

old reply but i believe they're using "big brother" as slang for "suveillance" (the reference comes from 1984 by george orwell) in case you were still curious
