I always disliked Svchost implementation, i think all of these services should have been separated processes. It makes investigation when you have an issue, so much harder. Like i remember having trouble finding which svchost was slowing down windows without using special tools like process explorer

When launching a program as admin, consent.exe runs with a parent process of svchost. If successful, consent.exe exits and the new process is launched with explorer as its parent. If not, we can’t always tell what was trying to be ran. Until now. github.com/Beercow/Cons...

i guess the verdict is that windows itself is the problem... excluding svchost (1.2gb) and any major open apps this process list still sums up to 4.5gb

Svchost.exe is just a parent process, the file itself is safe but what it tried to run maybe not.
You can check Event Viewer and see what service have failed to start around the time svchost was blocked

Ce qui m’a fais bondir, c’est le « fun fact » sur George Kurtz, CEO de crowdstrike, qui était déjà CTO de McAffe en 2010 quand ils avaient fait pété un paquet de PC en signant svchost comme malveillant.

今のWindows、いくらハードウェアスペックが上がっても、svchostとかバックグラウンドで処理に対してフックする機構のオーバーヘッドがでかかったりシングルスレッドだったりなのかで固まるから意味ねえ。

After following 8+ drastic steps, using 4+ different anti virus/malware programs, and leaving my computer effectively on hold for tens of hours in the span of a few days I'm glad to announce...My laptop's still melting.
Fortunately! that's beacuse I'm running demonic Chromium wares, svchost is dead
