There was so much garbage in the SWEU even back when Lucas had final say in everything, and the best of it (Zahn, and the Karpyshyn Darth Bane series?) is blown out of the water by Abnett.

My take on it always was that those stories still can be used as foundations. Take the ones that worked and discard the ones that didn't. Even if only 10% of the whole SWEU was ever good, because of just how big the body of work is, that's still a LOT of good story bases.

I'd recommend against picking random phonemes in an attempt to force originality of course, odds are high you'll end up with the name of a SWEU character and they'll instantly send a guy in an ill-fitting Chewbacca costume to break your kneecaps.
