Synth Bits! New studio setup, still needs some fine tuning. Rig on right jand side of pic has been extended from 3 to 5 rods. Now it looks even more impressive.

Synth Bits! Got me a second Korg DRV-3000 reverb, as mine is integral to my music and I want to keep a second one ready, just in case. This here had a Battery low warning. Battery itself (CR2032 with attached flaps) was OK, but one flap came off. Soldered a new battery in, done. #synthbits

Ensoniq TS12, here for an overhaul for a friend. Keybed needs to be serviced, squeaks like hell and some keys don't work properly. PSU and some other boards could use a recap. #synthbits

Experimenting with lights. On my synaesthesian plane, each of the synths has its main color range, and they are arranged so their colors fit together. Tried to set the lights to their main color, so you can get a glimpse of what I'm seeing. #synthbits

Before and after. Finally replaced my almost 20 years old patchbays. Had contact issues and lost grip, cables were sliding out. They'll still stay until the next rebuild but will be removed from the rack then. #synthbits

Synth Bits! Insight into Waldorf Quantum Mk1. Preseries version and the only non-Shadow Quantum with black leather side panels. Those flat cylinders are actually potentiometers. Shaft goes through the board, gets countered by a nut, then leaves the case. One of my favorite synths. #synthbits

Each key has two rubber dome switches below. On each keystroke, these activate with a short time difference, which converts to Velocity values.
Pop keys out, pull off rubber dome strip, clean, refit. Solved. #synthbits

Synth Bits! ESI NeON, one of the very first MIDI keyboards with built-in audio interface. Also, one of the very few devices with axial (!) endless rotary encoders, like mouse wheels. Sadly, it was too ahead of its time and didn't sell well. (not mine) #synthbits

Sorry Ma'am, but you're getting a root canal treatment. Dentist's tools are incredibly handy for getting dirt out from below the keys, for reworking the felt pads and removing foam pieces. Who would have thought? #synthbits

Output of JVC VS-1 Video Synthesizer. Turns an incoming stereo signal into simple visualisations. This fell into my hands when I was looking for regular synthesizers on the classifieds. Featuring my variation take on a theme some of you might recognize. (Unit itself not pictured here.) #synthbits

After giving Knobby a sock, it was happy to go home with me. MIDI controller: 8pots, 15 layers, speaks Sysex. Interesting chassis: 1.8(!)mm sheet metal. Front plate is a thin plastic layer. Already prepared for a version with faders (SlideMate). Floppy disk still works! #synthbits

Knobby Editor on good ol' Win XP. There are four Group buttons, but 15 selectable groups. You can press several buttons at the same time, which allows 15 combinations in binary code (0001, 0010, 0011 etc.) Who came up with this idea? Ingenious but weird at the same time. #synthbits
