Halloween post #29:
Another transformation: Reptile's Animality in Mortal Kombat 1 (2023).
A man, named after an animal, does an "Animality" by transforming into a man-eating... plant?
Plantality?
"Feed Me, Syzoth" refers to Little Shop Of Horror (1986)'s "Feed Me, Seymour".

Syzoth can change to his normal reptilian form anyway (hence the name "Reptile"), so it makes sense for him to turn into something else for his Animality.
A plant instead of an animal is a fun twist, and kind of the surprising yet amusing thing you'd expect from Mortal Kombat.

Oh, you actually read it? Thank you 💜 This gives me the motivation to actually write the next chapter, which will be HUGE for Book 2.
No, it didn't. As far as I remember, saurians have always been extinct, except for Syzoth and C/Khameleon. And we don't talk about MK12 and what it did to Syzoth.

#WIPSnips 8. “Lizard”
I had “lizard,” but I couldn’t resist sharing a snippet from Syzoth’s short story and the introduction to the lizardfolk (and chameleonfolk) of #ChroniclesOfTheRealms.

ALSO, there are short stories in the POV of MCs as well as SCs, and that's when things get spicy. Because we'll get the perspective of characters such as Alhamad, Hotaru, and Syzoth (whose first chapter is already out, by the way), and they add a whole new dimension to the events of the series.

Art dump for mk1! On the first picture those are a kid of Syzoth and my sona, big zatteran baby Aki, and my friend's tarkatan character Kojo, my sona's friend. Plus a little sketch of Baraka, I love him dearly

Andrew is so talented. I especially love him as Kollector and Reptile/Syzoth in MK.

Recent-ish, I posted the first chapter of "O, Children", a short story focused on Syzoth, one of the SCs of Chronicles of the Realms. So if you're in the mood for some lizard/chameleon folk, give it a read! 😁 archiveofourown.org/works/899387...

Ode to Reptile
Reptile, my beloved Reptile
My clamoring for you was never futile
When MK11 released my soul had been diseased
But when MK1 arrived it was pleased
For the return of the great syzoth
I am drawn to you like a moth
You gave me the wettest dreams
Of being covered in your acidic cream
Reptile, my beloved Reptile
My clamoring for you was never futile
When MK11 released my soul had been diseased
But when MK1 arrived it was pleased
For the return of the great syzoth
I am drawn to you like a moth
You gave me the wettest dreams

Once again, only okay. I liked it at first as a first impression for this new era of MK and the depth it gave to characters like Syzoth/Reptile and Baraka but looking back, it isn't really anything that special. And the villains aren't great either. Seems like that's something NRS can't quite nail.

I haven’t checked in on anything MK for a while, so I don’t know if ppl have made any merch of my faves… But I wish there was a company that that would make more of the monster-esque characters, someone that specializes in horror themed figures… How sick would that be? Baraka, Havik, and Syzoth
