Today's quest was to find an animal and take a picture with a #tabletwoven band. I found not one, but two animals who were willing to pose!

Photo alt text describes a bit more about tablet weaving, my warping process, and the design on the band I'm making.
A photo of the interior of the box loom with the warp tensioning bar for the close end shown underneath the first inch or two of weaving. The weaving is producing alternative navy and white W's. Above the weaving the shuttle is set in the weft with the tablets resting above the shuttle. In tablet weaving the weft thread is never visible, so the fact that this weft thread is royal blue instead of navy won't show in the finished band except for tiny bits at the edges, which are usually covered when the band is sewn down. This pattern will continue until there are six total W's and then will reverse to make six Ms. This keeps the warp thread from becoming too twisted as the weaving progresses - reversing the direction of the turns will untwist the warp threads. A box loom with most of the warp for a navy and white tabletwoven band wrapped around the far spindle. The posters left hand is visible in the photo holding sixteen 2-inch wooden tablets, each threaded with either 2 or 4 of the strands of warp. The loom is sitting on top of a blonde wooden table. Each set of warp threads for each card is knotted together at the far end of the warp. For this pattern, there are four border cards, two on each end, each with four navy threads. The center of the pattern is twelve cards, each threaded with one white and one navy thread, which will produce a skip-threaded pattern. Once the warp is tied off, the tablets are arranged so that when they turn, they'll produce the desired pattern on the face of the band. Next to the fabric is a book, turned sideways, called Applesies and Fox Noses: Finnish Tabletwoven Bands by Maikki Kariso and Mervi Pasanen. There is a white mailing envelope to the right of the book. Just barely visible at the top of the photo are the bottom edges of a white serger and a white sewing machine. The drop leaf makes a fairly easy warping board for tablet weaving. I wrap around the boards for the number of threads I need for each color and then cut across the wraps at the end to get strands are all about the same length.
