The region’s golf courses did not escape the wrath of Mother Nature during this week’s heavy rainfall.This included Tahunga Golf Club off Pehiri Road about 60 kilometres inland from Gisborne. The nine-hole farmland course, which is open for several months of the year, is located next to the Hangaroa River, which rose significantly during the rain. So much so, the river level reached the green on the club’s iconic 111-metre par-3 bridge hole.The water receded and the course, complete with fenced greens to keep out the sheep during the off-season, will be open soon.
