Indoctrinating my tamariki
When whānau and tamariki are having to hide behind locked doors it's not "going too far", it's terrorism.
When whānau and tamariki are having to hide behind locked doors while a crowd tries to break them down you have to stop calling it a difference of opinion you shouldn't do anything about.

Glad that the Auditor General has agreed to look at the sudden and apparently reckless cancellation of multiple Oranga Tamariki contracts. But it's not just Oranga Tamariki – this has happened across the care sectors. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Chhour wouldn’t know what manaakitanga is if it was hitting her in the face. For me manaakitanga also involves a collective responsibility to ensure our tamariki have what they need to thrive. Her suggesting manaakitanga is should be parents feeding tamariki at home shows how little she understands

Our tamariki deserve better!
A better formulation would be that it is hard to explain to Māori tamariki how colonisers stole their land, interrupted their way of life, and disrespected their tikanga when political representatives continue to present white settler colonialism's violence as civilised behaviour.

If bootcamps worked, the Minister would be bragging. Instead, Oranga Tamariki is hiding the numbers—because they failed. There’s something deeply wrong with people in power who punish rangatahi for a broken system they created. This isn’t justice. It’s state-sanctioned harm.
