Coho salmon and Chinook salmon were caught in the Tawas River on spawn and various artificial baits. Alpena: Boat anglers targeting 40 to 60 feet of water had some success on lake trout, along with a few Atlantic salmon and coho salmon. Fish were still well scattered throughout the water column. A few walleye were also caught using standard-sized spoons on leadcore and downriggers.

A few salmon were caught out of the Tawas River, while channel catfish and an occasional walleye were landed in the Au Gres River. Alpena: High winds hampered angler effort over the past week. When anglers were able to get out, a mixed bag of Chinook salmon, Atlantic salmon, walleye, and occasional steelhead was caught. The best results were in 30 to 50 feet of water throughout Thunder Bay.
