Lemme explain what bilateral trade deficits are, so that you can better understand -- and perhaps be infuriated by -- the intellectual error that's transforming our economy. #TeachEcon

I forget where I originally saw this, but renaming Office Hours as Student Hours - and highlighting this purpose in class - has been a gamechanger. I have had more students in the past few weeks than ever before. #AcademicSky

Just finished teaching Econ 101, and I'm feeling big feelings. It was an extraordinary group who engaged tenaciously. There really is nothing like an intro class in terms of how far we travelled together. Love these guys—all 500 of them. The future is bright! #GoBlue #Teachecon

📈 Students taught with CORE do better in every subject.
New research from @latrobeuni.bsky.social shows CORE texts boost performance across the board. Watch Associate Professor Buly Cardak explain the findings, now published in Southern Economic Journal.

Think of the economy as like baking a cake. H‑1B visas supply missing ingredients -- high skill STEM workers. If Trump cuts off access: fewer projects get baked, worse recipes get used, or we import the cake. None of those make Americans better off. #TheProfessorIsIn #TeachEcon

What is central bank independence, and why does it matter? A bit of econ 101 to help you follow the implications of Trump's ongoing threats to fire the Fed Chair. #TheProfessorIsIn #TeachEcon

Day one of Econ 101: Opportunity cost matters.

It's particularly resonant for me because so many of my students are freshmen, and they're trying to navigate choices that have gotten more treacherous than they need to be.

SCOOP — Part of the reason Disney/ABC may have rushed to sort things out with Kimmel is because tomorrow they have a planned price increase for Disney+ streaming, a Disney source tells me. With subscriptions hemorrhaging since last week, they couldn’t risk losing more users with this announcement.

I concede that I often look silly, but I don't understand the idea that an economist teaching economics is making a mistake. I'm here to help anyone who wants to learn more about the deep economic forces shaping their lives. And I'm not just talking to policymakers. #TeachEcon
Economists (eg Justin Wolfers) who give Econ 101 lessons on international trade to policymakers totally miss the point & look silly. US under both Biden and Trump was engaged into a lose-lose game where US (rather reasonably) thins that Chinese losses will exceed Amercian.
