I hear you. I got a few friends who play, so eventually I'll just group with them instead of queueing with randos. It's the synergy and teamwork that make teambased games fun for me. So I can still have fun in another game until that happens. All good. :)

Games aren't thay complicated. Almost anyone that commits to improving in them can absolutely climb. The thing is, why bother? So teambased matchmaking can screw you harder? Never try to improve, face enemies on your l on your level, and maximise zen enjoyment by never thinking at all.

Quake Champions was similarly 1v1 and very quick paced and fun; but it turns out "deathmatch" has even less staying power than "teambased objective focused deathmatch".
