Obviously I do get the concern www.theguardian.com/artanddesign... but also reminded of complaints I heard years ago about a sporting gun shop opening next to post office and risk of armed robberies. Regulations and safety checks can work.

I don't understand the priorities here. If vape shops are a threat to catch fire, the primary hazard is to human life - not a tearoom. If we decide vape shops are an unwarranted threat to that which is nearby, the solution should be to ban all vape shops - not just the ones near granny's old haunts.

I feel like councils need to set standards for some of these shops. If you are a business with a ton of lithium batteries on site, whether a vape shop, a phone shop or a bike shop, you need to have fire protection from tip to tail. Like not allowed to open until the fire brigade have approved it
