It's embarrassing the degree to which the UK government has fallen for the AI grift. Both Global Counsel and TechUK spend millions lobbying for this shit, and Labour are just lapping it up. 🤦‍♂️

I was a panellist at a techUK digital ID event yesterday, in a room of UK providers of identity solutions, and the vibe from them was that digital ID needs to be driven by convenience and consumer choice - needs to be easy to use by people who want to use it, when they want it.

If I follow this correctly, DCMS ministerial briefs have been announced on X by somebody from techUK. DCMS itself continues to boycott X, but the platform is apparently still a better source for the latest official info than GOV·UK – where DCMS hasn't yet published the briefs?
