I am working on posting it on my Patreon bit by bit for free. My major thesis in it is that we need HEART education to counteract the influence that STEM has had. HEART= humanities -education- art -rhetoric -Technoculture. Also the factory model needs to go.

not just big, but really big. so big that without FTL travel it's unlikely there will be any way to centralize all productive capacity and resources under one system of governance and organization of technoculture.

10-4-26: Yearning for Aliveness: Poetry, Nature, and Life Beyond Screens
In this episode the host reflects on deconstruction—not as loss of faith but as recognition that inherited systems have grown too small—and shares a personal yearning for aliveness in the face of technoculture. Through anecdotes about houseplants, a search for a kitten, romantic poetry (Tintern Abbey), and a silent home‑movie at a jazz concert, the speaker traces a longing for wildness, slow time, and embodied relationships. The conversation turns to fear about artificial intelligence and its dehumanizing momentum, and how that anxiety connects to broader patterns of cruelty and boundary‑violations. The host invokes Romanticism and William Wordsworth as models for seeking the sublime in nature and for taking refuge in things that technology cannot produce. Practically, the episode invites listeners to cultivate awe and healing through nature, deep human connection, simple embodied practices (walking, shaking, play), and remembering restorative experiences—small acts that protect sanity and keep us human.

This is #permacomputing as well, at least for me.

I organised a brief informal visit to the "Referenzgerätesammlung" at the Academy of the Arts in Bern. It's a large collection of media infrastructure, from oscilloscopes to TI/99-4A and pastel-coloured Macs […]

did anyone else here learn this from Constance Penley's essay in "Technoculture"
On this day 59 years ago, NBC aired “Amok Time”, a Star Trek episode so ontologically horny that dozens of women around the world spontaneously invented gay fanfiction to deal with it.

This had me rolling, though, having lived through this moment on the NYC rap scene (which coincided with the Afrocentric movement!). The fact that 3rd Base was signed to Def Jam (owned by Russell Simmons) added another level to the hybridity.

…Anyway. Here we are, i guess. SOMETHING will change in Meta's technoculture; at least for a bit.
Meta Will Pay Up to $16.7 Billion to Settle Its Social Media Harms Case—and That’s Not All
In addition to sending billions of dollars to states, Meta will make substantive changes to its platforms as part of a landmark settlement.
