Never played this but I remember Adam Sessler from X-Play on TechTV, or maybe it was already G4 by then, being excited about this game at the E3 it was shown off at and making a big deal about it.

and while that's hard to convey, it's NOT hard to show you

go out onto the internet, look on the Internet Archive, or on YouTube, or on the torrent sites, and find a show called "The Screen Savers". you may need to search instead for "zdtv" or "techtv" to find it

Do you have any insight as to how TechTV and Geneon came to a deal? Given how expensive Geneon's DVDs were, I imagine TechTV paying through to nose to get Serial Experiments Lain and Last Exile

Lain is my absolute, all time favorite. Formative memories of watching it on TechTV

I genuinely got sad how much sleeker it got in the techTV era, and also how much less they got on journalists to talk about tech news too, along with freaks and weirdoes like the time cube guy.

techtv was basically a podcast on tv nearly 30 years ago

do not worry. enunn is still the place to find my brutally honest game reviews and retrospectives and livestreams, enunn's stash is where you'll find g4/techtv content, and enunn's 2nd stash is where you'll find other tape goodies and local commercials.

AI has changed the speed of innovation, but not its fundamentals: AI can never take ownership of an innovation.

Watch to learn how to make innovation more effective

Somehow I think TechTV to G4 and also SciFi channel to SyFy (home of WWE wrestling and horror movies!) were probably two of the bigger missteps I ever saw networks do before this.... both tried to boost ratings and cut costs and they just alienated everyone who was a fan.

I apologize for unintentionally carbon dating you lmao.

But for the record I *did* hesitate! What an annoying thing to have dropped in your replies if you didn't live through it being in every commercial break on TechTV or whatever.

Hearing Ziff Davis just makes me think of TechTV. I miss that channel. 😭

TechTV had so many great shows, an absolute shame how badly G4 fucked that goose...
September 15, 2026 at 12:25 AM
The best presentation of Thunderbirds got crushed by the G4 gamerbro assimilation of TechTV.
September 15, 2026 at 12:21 AM
I remember when this happened 20 years ago after G4 bought TechTV, fired everyone, lost views, and then fire everyone from G4, and wondered why both channels sucked hot wet ass 6 months later...

Man I miss those TechTV days. X-Play and Screen Savers in particular.

Working at TechTv was so difficult that week because we were constantly covering it and it was on every TV in the office which was every five feet.

Once Friday hit and we could remove ourselves from that space I don’t think I had ever drank so much just to stop feeling anything.

Also, if you wonder why I miss TechTV, honest reporting with just a hint of Leo Laporte. Enough Leo to hate yourself for watching, honestly.

Art Bell was fringe conspiracy when The X Files was cool (ask your parents).

Cooper and Jones are the worst kinds of ambulance chasers.

The dude who covered 9/11 and doesn’t get called out often enough for being a bottom feeder is Leo Laporte. And yes. He covered it for TechTV before G4.

Ohhh maaaan another throwback. Primestar. Never had that one, but we eventually got DirecTV in 2000. Dad was pirating it, which of course got ME into it 💀 Good news is, I got to see ZDTV/TechTV in its heyday!
September 9, 2026 at 1:15 AM
I wouldn't know, I never got into it, or The Naruto. I had techTV and went down the Betterman/Boogie Bop Phantom late night anime route.
September 7, 2026 at 12:00 PM
I was in the building at ZDTV many times but was never on The Site on MSNBC. I was frequently on Call For Help and Screen Savers with Leo Laporte on ZDTV/TechTV.

I'm thinking of the guy on like techtv or something thats holding a rare almost one of a kind object and it just crumbles to pieces in the middle of him talking, but its bug.
