A teenager has been critically injured after being shot in the chest during what police believe was a targeted attack in Sydney’s south-west. The incident occurred on Thursday night when first responders discovered the 18-year-old male in the passenger seat of an abandoned black station wagon on Mimosa Road, Greenacre, around 9pm. He was treated by ambulance crews, including aerial support helicopter assistance, before being transported to hospital in stable condition. Police suspect the victim was driven to the location from a nearby street before the driver and any potential passengers left the vehicle. A burnt-out Toyota Hilux found on Celia Street, Granville, approximately 11km north of Greenacre, has been linked to the incident and is currently under forensic examination. Authorities have not yet identified the assailants, who remain at large. The case highlights ongoing concerns about targeted violence in urban areas, with police urging witnesses to come forward. While the victim’s condition remains stable, the incident has sparked community discussions about safety measures and crime prevention strategies in Sydney’s south-western suburbs.
