I apologise for interfering at this point, but the "Tefifon" was manufactured in the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) and not in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). The production site was located in Porz am Rhein, which is nowadays part of Cologne.

The Tefifon was like 8-track tapes, except it used grooves on the tape like a vinyl record played by a stylus. But it was only recorded on one side of the tape.
The Tefiphon (with a "ph") came before the Tefi cartridge and used both sides of the tape in a Mobius loop.

IIRC the device that Matt at Techmoan reviewed was called a Tefifon. It looked very similar to what you have there; I wonder if your Minifon is compatible with it?
