I was thinking about the history of agent frameworks (Telescript, Jini, etc.) compared with AI agent tech like MCP and A2A. I accidentally asked Claude about Block’s MCP rather than Anthropic’s because I was thinking about Block’s Goose MCP client.

It is cool, though. Claude made up a new protocol.
I'll expand the comparison to include Google's A2A and Block's MCP alongside historical mobile agent technologies like Telescript and current LLM agent frameworks. Historical Mobile Agent Technologies (like Telescript) Focused on code mobility across networks Rule-based decision making Message-passing communication Object-oriented programming paradigms Limited adaptability outside programmed scenarios Current LLM Agent Technologies Google's A2A (Agent-to-Agent) Google's A2A is a framework announced in June 2024 that enables LLM-based agents to collaborate with each other. A2A provides a standardized protocol for agent communication, allowing them to negotiate, plan, and execute tasks together autonomously. It aims to create an ecosystem where specialized agents can work together to solve complex problems. Key features of A2A include: Natural language communication between agents Task delegation and negotiation capabilities Built-in verification mechanisms to ensure agent outputs are valid Support for different types of agent architectures (not just LLMs) Ability to compose complex workflows from simpler agent interactions Block's Multi-Agent Cooperative Platform (MCP) Block's MCP is designed to facilitate economic cooperation between AI agents. かつてのアンテナの「なつみかん」から今日でてきたA2Aまで、Web時代のエージェントは「移動する」主体ではないんだよね・・。

Forth 本の改訂作業の関係で Forth のことをボチボチと調べていたら General Magic の telescript の話題を見つけた。要出典とのタグが付いているが Forth 系とのこと。

…そう言われてみれば、そうだったかも。最近アマプラで General Magic の映画を見たばかりなのでちょっと気になる。
