Terastalization wasn't a terrible idea, adding a mechanic that manipulates the Type matchups is a solid choice to freshen up Pokemon. But in practice, it created a system where many Pokemon were made obselete because you could just Tera a better one into any Type you want.

The Teraleak revealed that Garchomp has been throwing bribes at GameFreak to give it Dragon Dance for 15 years and so all GameFreak offices have the AC set to 20 degrees F to keep it out. This stopped working with the advent of Terastalization, resulting in the firing of everyone who implemented it.

Its hard to say because I know that Mega Evolution is incredibly popular but I really love Terastalization a lot considering how that I’m also not the biggest fan of Legends ZA battle format but the fact that the weather/environment important in Gen 10 reminds me of #Beatbreak tbh. #anipoke #pokemon
Anything with the terastalization effect is supposed to be hard to animate. Fish and birds moving when not swimming or flying also tends to be pointed out. Busier designs I'm sure are a pain, but the Ultra Beasts (especially Blacephalon) looked good in Sun and Moon.

I feel like I would have liked Gen 9 singles a lot more if Terastalization was given the VGC treatment. Not necessarily open team sheets but just knowing what tera type each mon was to make things way less volatile.
