Thaksin appears in court to challenge asset seizure
Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra told a court on Wednesday that the seizure and freezing of his assets to recover a 17.6-billion-baht tax debt were unlawful, arguing that poor coordination between the Revenue Department and the Ministry of Finance had led to him being pursued twice for the same debt. I have a strange fondness for the Thaksin/Sven era.

If there's a lesson from this Man City debacle it's that they need to return to the non corrupt and ethical ownership of Thaksin Shinawatra

Looking for something else and I am reminded that, in 2008, "MANCHESTER CITY owner Thaksin Shinawatra’s struggle to clear his name and recover £800m took another turn for the worse yesterday when a court in Bangkok accepted charges in a third criminal case against the former Thai PM"

Assuming that City's appeal fails dismally, then do the current owners go the same way as Thaksin Shinawatra? How can they be "fit and proper"? #ManCity

Menneskerettsforbrytarane frå Abu Dhabi kjøpte den sørstorbritiske fotballklubben Manchester City frå den thailandske menneskerettsforbrytaren Thaksin Shinawatra i 2008. _Kanskje_ ville det vere ein lur idé å ikkje tillate menneskerettsforbrytarar å eige fotballklubbar?

Notable also for the City fans' chant:
"We don't need no Phil Scolari,
We don't need Mourinho,
Hey, Thaksin, Leave our Sven alone"

They have elevated themselves to among the elite through serious cheating. Everything should be done to return them to where they were. Ideally before Thaksin "Frank" Shinawatra turned up but everyone forgets him.

Who would win an arm wrestle between Peter Swales, Thaksin Shinawatra, and Sheikh Mansour for dodgiest owner of Manchester City?

Maybe Thaksin Shinawatra’s daughter would be interested …

We Manchester City fans fear relegation and losing trophies … but club are bang to rights
We Manchester City fans fear relegation and losing trophies … but club are bang to rights
Despite attempts to legally filibuster the charges out of existence for the past three years, we’ve rightfully failed It couldn’t have been more prophetic. In 2008, 15 years before Manchester City were charged with financial fraud, fans started singing “City’s going down with a billion in the bank” to the tune of Yellow Submarine. This was because the former Thailand president Thaksin Shinawatra’s 15-month ownership of City had come to an abrupt end when more than £1bn of his assets were frozen. And although Sheikh Mansour of the UAE had stepped in to save City, we were sinking fast. Despite the UAE’s untold riches, by December we were in the relegation zone. It’s called Cityitis – shorthand for our tendency to self-destruct when things appear to be going well. In fact we won trophy after trophy. But we continued to sing the song about going down with a billion in the bank. When the financial fair play investigation was launched in 2018, the chant got louder. Then in 2023 we learned there were more than 100 charges. The chant became even louder and more cavalier. And now that our grubby, griftin’, cheatin’ chicken has come home to roost, you can bank on one thing (if banks still deal with us) – the chanting will be louder and more cavalier than ever. But the Thai right is not sincerely concerned with those things. It is essentially fighting the same imaginary fight over sovereignty that one sees in its neverending battles with UNESCO, with Cambodia over Preah Vihear, with Thaksin over an alleged "sale of the country."

There were several post-Ayutthaya statelets

Ayutthaya officials took over in Phitsanulok and Ligor in alliance

A Ban Phlu Luang claimant surfaced in Prachin

A revered monk set up a theocracy in Uttaradit

And Chinese traders in Chanthaburi allied with Taksin, who eventually restored Siam

God I loved him. I know it was a different era, what with the Thaksin transition period and whatnot, but Elano is the only player who comes close in the pre petro dollar era.

Aznar está declarado como uno de los 5 peores presidentes de la Historia (Ojo, no sólo España, es a nivel mundial).
Compitió con:
Gerhard Schoder
Joseph Estrada
Thaksin Shinawatra
Olusegun Obansajo
Y quedó en 5 puesto. A nivel mundial.
Quedar entre los 5 primeros, no es fácil.

One of the first signs of light, after many dark times, was Sven-Göran Eriksson’s solitary but memorable (and beloved) season as City’s manager in 2007/08, following the club’s takeover by then-Thai president Thaksin Shinawatra.
