As the Tory’s try to resurrect the extremes of Thatcherism
We will still dance on her grave

What an absolutely moronic, ill-considered, discombobulated proposal that is. Like thatchers policy on selling off council houses no more new council houses were built to replace them just as no more solar panels will be installed elsewhere to make up the shortfall. Mad as a box of frogs.
The Tories will scrap solar panels on new build homes.

That means more solar will need to be built elsewhere, including on farmland. Labour’s Future Homes Plan puts panels on roofs first, helping protect farmland for food production.

But they said they were investing in the network whilst paying dividends to “block” shareholders!

Conservative greed thatchers legacy.

Time to tax the rich!

Oh my word... Thatchers privatisation has led to millionaires (rare 40 yrs ago) to becoming Billionaires now!
If that Kemi thinks that is success she should get out more ..
Infrastructure? NHS ? Education? Housing ? Utilities?
Hasn't improved in last 40yrs all thanks to Thatchers privatisation
October 5, 2026 at 4:12 PM
Truss spent so much of her time mimicing Thatchers clothing and photo ops down to the last detail that I don't think the press needed to do anything. It was pretty embarrassing and squirm-making all around.

It is connected but different
The post i replied to said it was thatchers fault, that is not true!
Every govt since her, including this one, has failed to provide the money
It is has big a problem as NHS, defence, education, but there is no sense of urgency

Unfortunately, anticipating a Johnsonian reign the length of Mrs Thatchers, the Conservatives handed the perogative power of requesting a dissolution back to the Prime Minister alone, the Fixed Term Parliaments Act was far easier to judge....

Agree, the mess wasn't fixed by other Governments - perhaps because the impact hadn't fully manifested itself and other issues took priority.

But the cause was Thatchers policies. The structure of the financing required was complex, tied to RTB (which was insufficient to build) and much more
October 5, 2026 at 10:34 AM
The funding streams that enabled councils to build very much had to do with Thatchers policies and how they fundamentally changed social housing.

I mean, someone made the Doom mod, Thatchers moonbase or something (can't remember the name sorry)

Thatchers mate who also did irreable damage
October 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM
Oh ja, das ist fatal. Oder Absicht ? Ob es geheime Wünsche Thatchers gab? Helgoland zurück zum Königreich . So als Zugeständnis für ihr zauderndes Okay zur Einheit? 🤔

Andy Burnham was articulate in speaking against Thatchers NeoLib "experiment" last week. Winston did the same in 2017.
It'd be nice to hear our Lab adopt anti-neolib rhetoric, thou I fear Chloe wld have to apply blowtorch to Chippys gingernuts for such to happen?
October 4, 2026 at 1:02 AM
Andy is correct politically, economically & sociologically on Thatchers Neo- Liberalism. It was the triumph of Middle Class as they accrued more wealth/income.Their media slaughtered Lab & Lab were unable to challenge the Tory hegemony. After Tony Blair things got better &here's hoping Andy has impact

Recipe calls for “hard cider” I choose to go with thatchers because proper hard cider like k-cider is fucking rank
October 3, 2026 at 5:57 PM
Agreed. That would be a difficult bridge for any politician to cross, if they suggested higher taxes, they’d very likely not get voted in. Also, for Norway their oil money has been used far more wisely than thatchers splurge on tax cuts.

Man thatchers gold really sucks ass
October 3, 2026 at 6:54 AM
I just watched a Drop The Dead Donkey episode from 1990 joking about how bad privatisation had made water in the UK as the rivers were "full of soap".

Little did they know that Thatchers' legacy would bloom into.

I am one of 14 cousins, kids of 4 brothers living in the same Scottish town

In the 80s, you were called in to sign on on specific days,,depending on the initial of your surname. I regularly met 3 of my cousins signing on. Almost a quarter of the generation signing on.

I give you Thatchers 80s.

Off for a few days fat biking in the Quantocks. Staying at what we call the Love Shack (not sure how it got that name!) First time on an e-bike (if I get my back wheel sorted in time) so looking forward to blasting up the combes. Stopping off at Thatchers on the way...😉

He obviously doesn't remember the utter misery and destitution that Thatchers conservative party created for the working population of the UK
