Well, this is lovely! City of All Seasons by Aliya Whiteley and myself has been shortlisted for the Aldiss Award for World Building in speculative fiction!
I have, in my time, asked SF writers to write non-fiction. The results have been, without exception, both brilliant and entertaining.
It's almost as if excellent SF writers are excellent writers full stop.
