Had a very interesting day in Masham. Had an OP poured for me by Simon Theakston and enjoyed a tour, plus recorded a really good interview. Bucket list brewery visit, honestly.

In the age of generic, battleship grey pubs what a standout The Elms Inn, Burton is. Beautiful, natural wood interior, bench seating in the bay windows. The Bass is good but this afternoon they've Theakstons Old Peculiar from the wood. Smooth, rich (but not excessively tannic) Superb.

Popped into @waterstones.bsky.social at Glasgow Fort today where they had a whole table of The Cracked Mirror. Yes, I am totally milkiing the fact that it's been nominated for the @harrogatefestivals.bsky.social Theakstons Crime Novel of the Year.

Theakstons Peculier IPA, now there's something new. Smells like meths, but tastes ok, and at 5.1 I can handle that. Good to see D'Artagnan is keeping his usual beady eye on me.
