A trio of disparate Japanese teens form a band in the reflective, melancholy, but ultimately life-affirming, & yes, colourful animation 'The Colours Within'. The songs - New Wave dance pop a la New Order - elegantly reiterate pic's themes of acceptance & positivity #TheColoursWithin #きみの色

Quite a few tears in the house at the end of yesterday's #KilkennyAnimated screening of Naoko Yamada's #TheColoursWithin yesterday. One of the points made in the Director Masterclass beforehand was the range of talents and number of people needed to make #anime - it's never just one person's work.

Forgot to post this, still an excellent film with an excellent dub to boot (never doubt NYAV Post)
The intimate and comfy vibes it gives off are so strong. I love these 3 dorks.
Now if the English versions of those songs could get officially released... #TheColoursWithin

Rewatched #GhostCatAnzu dubbed earlier (tried last week but cinema played the sub & I got refunded for it)
Still a very fun film, despite some qualms with the final act. Hopefully I won't have to repeat something like this when the wide release for #TheColoursWithin comes around

Gonna be a shame that whatever home release we get in Australia won't be anything this nice (we're not even getting #GhostCatAnzu on Blu-ray so my expectations are very low).
Inevitable, but still nice to see Garden of Remembrance included as a bonus. #TheColoursWithin

I watched "The Colours Within", nice movie!
I enjoyed the songs as well.
You can tell I have a favourite, but I really liked all three protagonists!

Really don’t like this poster design, but it’s my favourite film of the year so far, so nice to have it framed anyway. At least until I get an original Japanese poster, then I can replace it with that. #TheColorsWithin #TheColoursWithin #きみの色 #filmposter

Had a wonderful time, very vibes based film. Yamada & team really craft a warm & intimate relationship between bandmates while avoiding the more frustrating cliches.
Also there's just no heterosexual explanation for the way Totsuko admires Kimi #KimiNoIro/#TheColoursWithin

Although Totsuko doesn’t play an instrument, she forms a band with classmate Kimi and quiet musician Rui, they meet at a bookstore. Set to practice at an old church on a remote island, they are to reveal their colours.

Some physical media updates, including the latest imports from Anime Limited, MVM and @animeigo.com/Discotek
Had to grab #TheColoursWithin on Blu-ray (thanks for the barebones DVD Kismet) and threw in Too Much Sleep alongside the Discotek orders just to support AnimEigo/Whole Grain Pictures.

2nd film for the 2nd day of #ScotlandLovesAnime #SLA24 #SLA2024 is #TheColoursWithin which was by far my winner SO far of the festival this year! The Q & A was amazing, big shout to Jonathan and Beth for putting up with the two of them (Director Naoko Yamada & Music Producer Kensuke Ushio)😂😂

Totsuko boards at a catholics girls school, lonely as she struggles with visually seeing people as coloured auras & her faith
Music provides a link from her infant years to possible friendship. Beautiful anime storytelling about facing fears and growth. 7

Kismet and Madman releasing Naoko Yamada's #TheColoursWithin on DVD only is truly a crime against cinema
Really wish SugoiCo got this and #GhostCatAnzu cause even if the wait was longer we would've at the very least gotten the UK Blu-rays

Feels almost cruel to use a pic of the steelbook we Aussies aren't getting.
Anyways Kismet/Madman's DVD for #GhostCatAnzu released this week & it is depressingly barebones, no extras or the dub (which screened here) listed in the specs. #TheColoursWithin will probably be identical to this travesty

In not so much of a surprise at this point after #GhostCatAnzu, the Australian home release for #TheColoursWithin is currently set to be DVD only, through licensor Kismet Movies (with Madman as their distributor)
Guess I'll be importing from Anime Limited again

Also with #TheColoursWithin, Event Cinemas has incredibly sparse sessions for its release this week. Not only is there only one session per day for either language, they also alternate between 4:30pm or 9:30pm
At least George St is one of my preferred cinemas & is an easy bus ride to the city
