Last wk the students presented on Eliot’s Waste Land, Jones’ Anathemata, Auden, Pound, & Woolf’s Journal of Mistress Joan Martyn for the MODERNIST MEDIEVALISMS week of #TheMedievalNow. My co-tutor Dr Tom Revell gave a lecture on Tolkien & Lewis, & @cappsjuliano.bsky.social led a collage poetry task.

This week it’s RECOVERING (OR INVENTING?) WOMEN’S VOICES in #TheMedievalNow with lots of my favourite texts & approaches! From Zadie Smith & Caroline Bergvall to Maria Dahvana Headley & Siân Hughes. And I’m bringing along @revrachelmann.bsky.social Eleanor among the Saints as a bonus text!

When I wrote FOR THY GREAT PAIN it was definitely beyond my wildest dreams that it would be included in a university course! How cool does #TheMedievalNow look, co-taught by the ingenious @drlauravarnam.bsky.social! And everyone should read CUDDY btw, it's incredible.
Last week’s selection of Medieval Biofictions for my co-taught course #TheMedievalNow with Tom Revell: Cuddy by Benjamin Myers, For Thy Great Pain by Victoria MacKenzie, Margery Kempe by Robert Glück, The Invention of Fire by Bruce Holsinger, and I added some bonus Virginia Woolf in class! ✨

We had our final seminar in #themedievalnow course this week that I’ve been co-teaching with Rachel Burns. We explored place & landscape via Landmarks, The Buried Giant, The Western Wind, The Name of the Rose, Wild, and Matthew Francis’ Mandeville poetry collection 🌳🍃⛪️🌊
