Day 21 of #ArtAdventCalendar In the city, the night sky can be quite light, especially on cloudy nights. I painted this sky in layers of yellow, grey, green and blue. Our eyes blend the colours into winter clouds lit by the city.

Large painting, 24x48 horizontal. Along the bottom in shades of grey and brown, the city skyline is dotted with lights. The sky fills most of the panel, layers of grey, yellow, blue and green melt together. The feeling is relaxed and cool.

Day 9 of #ArtAdventCalendar This morning's sunrise reminded me of this painting from 2017. The view of the sky from my new condo inspired me to return to painting after a 25 yr hiatus and I painted the sky almost exclusively for a few years. #TheSkyIsMyMuse
Destination 36x40, Oil on wood panel A large painting 36x40, horizontal. A closely cropped view of a colourful sunrise. In the bottom right corner is bright yellow sun. Pink clouds break it up, moving into darker pink as it rises in the sky. The clouds give way to dark blue sky behind. Photo of this morning's sunrise. In the foreground is an urban neighbourhood silhouetted - trees, smokestacks, low buildings and houses. the sky is bright orange at the horizon with a ball of yellow sun. Clouds streak across the sky, eventually breaking over dark blue sky.

Nice way to wake up this morning.

Pre-sunrise over urban neighbourhood. Foreground is dark with a few lights on in houses and streetlights. A few bare branches of trees reach up into the sky. One smokestack, one industrial tower. The sky (top 2/3 of the photo) starts bright orange at the horizon fading paler and into pale blue at the top. Across the whole sky is a sheet of small clouds.

Just before the sun came up, there was this. Waking up at the crack of dawn is much more do-able this time of year. #sunrise #theskyismymuse
Pre-sunrise. Silhouetted in the foreground L>R Trees, bare tree branches, flat roofed building, smokestack, distant trees, cement tower. Closer to the front/bottom some lights of houses, streetlights and billboards. The sky is bright orange at the horizon, fading to deep yellow, pale blue and darker blue at the top.
