Delta Machine is probably the last album I think of to listen to in DM's catalog. The production is solid and I'm always surprised to remember how many great tracks there are (Soothe My Soul, Should be Higher, Alone, Welcome to My World) but it always feels like it's reaching #NowListening #ThisIs51

Sounds of the Universe is DM's most underrated, imo. The production, courtesy of Ben Hillier (also: Playing the Angel) is some of the best in the band's history. Great lyrics, powerful anthems, and this crazy cool boxset that closed out DM's third decade.

Playing the Angel is probably the most-loved modern DM album (except maybe their newest). Listening now, it comes across with much of the same timelessness that Violator has. The production is vintage DM with a keen eye in the millennium + the video for Precious is tres cool. #NowListening #ThisIs51

I caught DM a second time, when they toured for the 86>98 Singles. We never got a proper tour for Ultra, bc addiction, but they played some singles for the show (in Worcester, MA) including this one: It's No Good. Also, Useless and Barrel of a Gun

The Devotional Tour (1993) was the first time I saw DM after moving from AK to CO for college. Songs of Faith and Devotion caused a ruckus with fans (too much guitar!), but the energy on the album is undeniable. #NowListening #ItsMyBirthday #ThisIs51
