He’s apparently called a Green-headed Tanager. He’s a pretty bird who likes to eat fruit.
I remember staring at pictures trying to get his feather colors right.

I can tell you how they did it. Lots of long-and-shrt satin stitch and with just one strand of floss, and *lots* of time. I threadpaint too, and you can get amazing results, they just take a while.

I don’t use multiple colors in blackwork most of the time but there are a lot of examples. The skirt would be one color, the apron another, etc, and you can make it flat or 3d. I found one example I did. I can’t threadpaint worth nuts so I’ve tried other things.
