Arsenal making a change in strategy? Earlier only our fullbacks used to take our throw ins. Now quick throwins by anyone? Madueke took the previous one. #Arsenal #ArsenalFC #AFC #champions #premierleague #soccer #football #ARSLEE

Balls of steel by the players, We made it tough for us with all the sloppy passing but still won, Saka in particular non existent, because all they did have is throwins and corners and our lads we ate it up 💪 like pirañas in a lake full of teenagers

Do Arsenal have special dispensation to ignore the new 'quick throwins' rules?

Sure players…Ale Mac…should’ve done better to prevent Neco from conning the idiot ref into giving a pen. BUT why didn’t fuckwit fourth official get sub boards ready for either of the throwins? And why didn’t old mate Ols notice the foul throw?

And you wonder why #LFC fans believe Refs are biased

Glad to see the ref making a mess of the 5-second rule for throwins right from matchweek 1.

We are so so so so slooow. Throwins= savage picks up and always then drops it for kanu, who sometimes then drops it for Bindon

No intensity. Just get fucking on with it

Ref also has to stop shirt pulling, holding and the GK taking an age to get ball back in play

3/10 so far. Abysmal

We had a bit of a chat about what halfpipes look like. It drew a picture that was roughly there -- not in ggplot mind you.

So I asked if it could draw an Olympic dimension halfpipe with an X where a snowboarder would be throwins a sick cork 540.

I think we're done here, lol

and the general shithousery. Not that we were doing anything useful when the ball was in play.. but would have been nice to see an actual game of football break out beyond feigned injuries and 60 second restarts for throwins

Football has become so fun , throwins, corners and VAR.

I will say I've been counting seconds on long throws and if referees actually enforce a 5-second limit on throwins it should pretty well nerf most of the long throw game. I'm somewhat convinced that rule will work, if enforced.

in which I propose my grand theory of the set piece revolution

they're mostly just exploiting the offside rule on balls out of play www.expectinggoals.com/p/the-set-pi...

bringing lando throwins down with them

FK's throwins and now corners time being milked by them. #lufc

My takeaway from last night. Need to get some basics sorted. Schoolboy footballers can and do take / defend throwins better. They are professional footballers they should be able control a ball and make a simple pass, move into space. #EFC

Rory Delap with his throwins as his special move

Also be nice to see some yellow and red cards dished out for kicking the ball away or taking too long with throwins. Or is that punishment reserved only for when Arsenal do it

In the past you have talked about the captaincy and that you don’t think it matters to the players who the official captain is but is it finally time to take it of #8 for his sake? I think the weight of expectations on the club have made him crumble as a player.
Also #4 throwins @1-2

Often, they do. But how do you not know there are throwins?

England manager Thomas Tuchel says the long throw‑in is back and may be a weapon for the 2026 World Cup, as Premier League throws rose from 0.9 per game in 2020‑21 to 1.5 in 2024‑25. Read more: https://getnews.me/england-may-use-long-throw-ins-as-a-weapon-at-2026-world-cup/ #england #throwins

I understand putting long throwins in, but should you not throw it in the general vicinity of one of your own players?
August 24, 2025 at 12:28 PM
It really feels that as we go on the England games get duller. Also galling to see Croatia unlock Ghana. All of this seems to strongly suggest England are poor at open play since we’re still playing for corners, throwins - basically set pieces only.

Also as an aside - it's not the reason Arsenal lost today but the throwins have been getting worse and worse as the season has progressed, and I'm now having qualms about the new throwin coach as a result
I pay extra attention to throw-ins these days, as I believe they are a key indicator of a team's mindset and confidence. Arsenal were shocking in that respect as well, with no players asking for the ball, sometimes even running away from the thrower when in a decent position. "Not me, please"!

i think i am at the point of just wanting corners abolished / replaced with throwins from the flag, no option for inswinging, no silly interpretations of what constitutes a foul etc
