ss 1/3 of a random misha and nick interaction “Good. If that will be all…” Misha turned and snapped open the fridge, retrieving a bottle of beer— Nick’s favorite, one he always remembered to buy during grocery runs, no matter how many were left in the fridge— that he easily popped open by positioning the lip of the bottle against the kitchen table and slamming his palm down onto the top, effectively cracking it with a satisfying hiss, “That silly American sport you enjoy will be on in twelve minutes.” And, it seemed, that was that, as Misha returned to cleaning Nick’s kitchen, now sweeping the floor to rid it of stray dirt and pieces of Vanya’s annoyingly ever-present fur. Nick could only stare blankly at the bottle next to his elbow for a moment, his heart still pounding in his chest. He could never wrap his head around how his partner could do that— involve himself in an altercation and then just disarm and go about like nothing had happened. Finally, though, he took the cold bottle, lifting it to his lips. “Football is not silly. It’s an important American pastime, goddammit.” Misha didn’t even glance up as he crouched, sweeping a neat little pile of dirt into the dust pan he’d retrieved. “Americans play games with hands and call it ‘football’. This is why I do not respect your culture.” There was no real malice in the words, just his usual dry and matter-or-fact delivery, like he was merely commenting on the weather. “I do not understand why watching men— most of whom are on steroids— repeatedly destroying their bodies and giving themselves blunt force trauma is considered entertainment.” ss 2/3 of a random misha and nick interaction “I am not having this argument with you again,” Nick groaned before he took a long pull of the dark beer, enjoying the richness of flavor on his tongue, leaning back in his chair to eye the younger man, “And for the last time, not all the players are on steroids!” He glanced away, grumbling. “Only some of them are… Sometimes.” Misha set the broom and dust pan aside, as if resisting the urge to throw them. “I once witnessed an American football player attempt to eat his teammate’s helmet. This is not exaggeration. It was during a documentary on CTE.” He crossed his arms over his chest. “Your argument is invalid.” Nick nearly choked on his beer, wiping the back of his hand over his mouth before pointing to him sharply. “That’s not normal! That’s— That was just one guy out of hundreds! That doesn’t mean the whole goddamn sport is like that!” He narrowed his eyes, his brow furrowing. “You were literally in the military, Misha! You know what combat does to a man’s brain! Don’t you dare lecture me about traumatic brain injuries, you hypocrite!” Misha raised a brow, looking thoroughly unimpressed at Nick’s theatrics. “Ah, yes.” He said dryly, “Because combat and football are one in the same.” He turned to dry his hands on a dish towel. ss 3/3 of a random misha and nick interaction “A game is the same as actual combat— Tch—” With that, he strode past Nick, heading towards the stairs for the bathroom. “This conversation is over. I refuse to listen to you defend this ridiculous, backwards sport any longer.” Nick slumped back in his chair when he heard Misha’s footsteps retreat and the distinctive sound of the bathroom door clicking shut and the water beginning to run. And despite everything that had led to this very moment, he laughed, the sound sharp and surprised, almost hysterical as the sound bubbled out of him before he could stop it. God, he was exhausted. But, at least, he had the beer his partner always made sure was in the fridge no matter what, and football in twelve minutes, despite Misha’s disdain. “Fuckin’ Russians…”

misha's timeline in the against the clock au is a lil different from his tftnd counterpart bc its a "modern" au (set in present day vs 2058-2060)— also my poor boy def looks like he lost the will to live by 27 :,)

three depictions of misha (nova — he/him) at different stages of his life (from left to right: 23, 25 and 27/present day) at 23, he was commander of a splinter sector called the 34th scouts division, which was a russian counter-intellegence/spec ops group at 25, he was "defected" from the scouts and sides with a rouge militant group— in between that time, he lost his arm @ 24 when demetri (a terrorist cell leader) bought him shortly after his defection, he chose to go to medical school, and at 27, he's a civilian trauma specialist and lead r4; he's noticably more scarred and lost a lot of his weight and skin parlor
