I propose we treat these liminal post-election pre-results weeks the same way as we do the post-Christmas pre-New Years days. Trifle for breakfast, afternoon naps, and a complete lack of timekeeping. I think we've earned it.

After more than 50 years, the leap second is being retired. ⏰

These occasional tweaks to our clocks help keep time aligned with Earth's rotation. But they've become a headache for modern technology.

Here's why scientists decided it's time for a change: www.capitalweather.com/times-up-for...
Time's up for the leap second. Here's why it's disappearing.
An international decision to retire leap seconds will simplify precise timekeeping, ending decades of adjustments to keep clocks aligned with Earth's rotation.

It's just occurred to me that one Mississippi, two Mississippi is in 3/4 time which means all timekeeping is in Waltz time.

Lots of potential reasons. Unexpected urgent result in their inbox overnight, staff crisis to sort, taking a call from a district nurse or the out of hours service handing over a patient. But some doctors are also just terrible at timekeeping 😂

I get that Americans have short attention spans, are politically forgetful, and a year is an eon in political timekeeping, but who are these mofos fooling?

Any credible/viable gg.op candidate will be someone entirely new on the scene or a player who repudiated him during 1st administration

Mitya then checks the time with Valeriy’s pocketwatch - yep, the very same one he confiscated earlier. No timekeeping on vacation!

Except…

“Shoot. I’m running late! Oh man, why didn’t you say anything?” Scarf protests this mischaracterization with all its might -

Western Canadian provinces face confusion as permanent daylight saving time disrupts timekeeping
The Globe and Mail editorial discusses the recent decision by several western Canadian provinces to adopt permanent daylight saving time, a move that has created confusion in timekeeping systems. Starting last weekend, the national atomic clocks' time display became one hour off for western provinces like Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba, which chose not to observe the seasonal time change. This decision, made without coordination with neighboring jurisdictions, has led to significant practical challenges. The provinces' choice to remain on summer time year-round means residents experience darker mornings, with sunrise in Edmonton not occurring until nearly 10 a.m. during winter months. The editorial notes that this approach contradicts research showing that clock changes, particularly the spring adjustment, are linked to health issues including increased rates of strokes and heart attacks. While the provinces claim to have consulted public opinion, the editorial argues that the decision was made without considering the broader implications for cross-border business with the United States, where most states still observe seasonal time changes. The piece also references historical context, noting that previous attempts to make daylight saving time permanent in the U.S. and Russia were abandoned due to public dissatisfaction with being out of sync with natural daylight patterns. The editorial concludes that the western provinces' approach to timekeeping is misguided, as it attempts to control time rather than align with natural cycles, ultimately leading to more problems than solutions for residents and businesses alike.

School is important - in my family if I could stand upright and speak a coherent sentence I went! - and so is timekeeping, if only as a question of good manners. But it really came across as completely disproportionate, and I suspect it won't actually reach the families who might need support.

Just spent 10 minutes explaining time zones. Again.

When you have reports that have to run at specific times, you cannot just force change the server time by an hour and leave the time zone the same.

Also, WHY ARE WE NOT USING UTC FOR OUR INTERNAL TIMEKEEPING?!?!?!
