For those who need further help, this should do the trick:

At best, about ~1% was recovered.

Very sad that broken tinypic links are permanently seared in my mind with archived forums!

is there any happy depiction of this guy, does he exist solely to bring bad news about tinypic

This might be the most widely distributed image on the internet.

Pretty tragic too. Anyone who used forums in the late 00s will be familiar with TinyPic+Photobucket.

The idea of course was free image hosting supported by ads…but specifically on the uploaders side.

i mean i agree with this sentiment, but forums arent immune to data loss either (thanks a lot photobucket and tinypic...)

gonna use tinypic to send loss memes in the dms like it's 2007 all over again

and for all its faults, at least -- barring this -- discord is an all-in-one, working package. nobody is looking up their Hot Tipz in a discord channel and seeing "Upgrade to PhotoBucket Delux Today" or "Unavailable In Your Country Because We Sucked Your Data Dry :-)" (or worse, hi tinypic)

thanks! found the fix:

someone is going to integrate support for user-uploaded 3rd-party-hosted gifs and/or videos into bsky, and then 5 years later this is gonna happen

this imgur being blocked in UK thing reminds me a lot of viewing old forums w/ imageshack or tinypic images

Thus, the same image might load tens of thousands of times a day, with only a single ad impression.

If you remember, TinyPic+Photobucket went defunct *very* abruptly. Archiveteam scraped as much as they could with bots in the last few weeks of their existence.

*Viewing* an embedded image gave no impressions; but still cost TinyPic bandwidth.

It got super, super popular. At the peak, it accounted for 2% of US internet traffic, which is weird because they unintentionally started to behave more like a CDN.

yeah this fucking thing
April 27, 2025 at 10:26 PM
aw shit... here comes tinypic
February 9, 2026 at 7:57 PM

internet brainrot alternate covers i dug up while in the process of sorting files

Virality basically killed it.

This idea that the few cents you make on impressions during upload would pay for ALL the bandwidth from future embeds just doesn’t work.

Devs would often host website assets and even forum skins using tinypic.
