TiTiler-CMR
Dynamic tiling for Earth data

→ Pulls data straight from NASA’s CMR
→ Works with NetCDF, HDF5, COGs
→ Powers VEDA’s IMERG + HLS products
→ Fully open source

jupytergis-tiler allows to visualize local or remote Xarray datasets in JupyterGIS.
It doesn't matter if the data is huge and doesn't fit in memory, the tiler will render to the screen just what you need to see.
All powered by @developmentseed.org's awesome TiTiler!

At Compute! Paris, Guillaume Eynard-Bontemps, Vincent Sarago & Martin Renou (GeoJupyter community) present an open alternative from pieces already maturing across the Pangeo, CNG, and OGC ecosystems: JupyterGIS (frontend), TiTiler (backend), Xarray, STAC, and OpenEO (under the hood).

I'm supposed to be writing a DevSeed post about the TiTiler-CMR tool we built, which NASA wrote about in a blog post, but instead, it's Friday, and I'm procrastinating by exploring it myself.

Looking forward to attending #foss4guk2024 tomorrow in Bristol.

I'll be speaking on using cloud native technologies to build a flood risk app, using Titiler, @postgis.bsky.social , MVTs and more!

7 months ago ESA asked: can the open-source ecosystem handle Sentinel Zarr? 🛰️🗺️

We pushed early GeoZarr conventions with:
→ GDAL
→ OpenLayers
→ TiTiler/rasterio
→ STAC
→ rioxarray

No proprietary format. No lock-in. Just interoperability.

NASA’s TiTiler‑CMR is now powering dynamic HLS visualizations in Worldview and FIRMS: custom bands, indices, and on‑demand composites with no downloads or preprocessing.

Tailoring the View: TiTiler-CMR Customizes HLS Imagery in Worldview and FIRMS | NASA Earthdata
The TiTiler service generates dynamic, on-demand map tile layers that can be easily incorporated into GIS software and visualization applications. Two NASA Earth science mapping applications – Worldview and FIRMS – have harnessed the full versatility of this service.

Kinda forgot about Bluesky for a bit. I get really burned out on LinkedIn, though, and then I come back around. I'm working on a bunch of blog posts that are cool - deck.gl-raster, NISAR, osm-seed, titiler-cmr, healpix visualization, and more.

And the saguaros are blooming already!

TiTiler serves map tiles on demand from large geospatial files.

- Built for cloud-optimized GeoTIFFs
- Outputs JPEG, PNG, WEBP, and more
- Modular packages for custom setups

Ça me rappelle un collègue de mon mari qui voulait googler Titiler, a oublié une lettre et s’est retrouvé face à des images d’Hitler avec des nichons.

geowebms or geomp4s pls. @vincentsarago.xyz promised me at some point one should be able to request tiles from TiTiler with a time range and a .webm or .mp4 extension instead of .png. Apart from me hating gifs, one would need a video format to keep tiles in sync as the video plays.

Je sais pas qui c’est ce gus mais j’suis à peu près sûr que c’est pas le genre à aller titiler les balkany et co sur des faits démontrés de délits en tout genre

With the code snippet you can pull the data directly to your setup. If you mean within Explore, each dataset has fixed rendering options. It uses TiTiler so it's possible to customize, and it was part of the roadmap, but I do not know if it remains so (other than DIY). github.com/microsoft/pl...

eoAPI makes it easy to stand up STAC metadata, raster tiling, and vector services — no heavy lift.

Explore the stack → eoapi.dev

And check out our other tools: Titiler, Lonboard, obstore, deck.gl‑raster, stac‑map.

I'm really liking the @maplibre.org globe projection view. When combined with Titiler and COGs in our STAC catalog, we can finally visualize custom layers without the distortions created by the Mercator projection. Performance is A+ as well!

Thinking about @STACspec + @placemarkio. Seems like a no-brainer in the long term, but right now a lot of STAC catalogs provide raw data only, so it'd require a titiler server or something like that to make it work, and even then there's the question of handling multispectral…
