Today was the first anniversary of the day I moved overseas.

...Anyway here's Toffle

A fanart of the titular character from Tove Jansson's picture book "Who Will Comfort Toffle" from the Moomin series. Toffle is standing in a bag three time their size, floating above the sea in partly cloudy weather, looking at the horizon and blocking some of the light with their hand above their eyes.

Vem ska trösta Knyttet (Who will comfort Toffle) by Tove Jansson. The cover has several characters Moomin fans might recognize, like Snoofkin and Little My, but they're standing in tight circle with others, excluding sad little Toffle, his dark coat contrasting with their bright colors.

This chest pain is maybe the most painful thing i've ever experienced?? Worse than my shitty pcos cramps because at least there's some relief for those. i can't just stop breathing. Plus having to say goodbye to toffle yesterday, i can't even cry about it because of the pain. I'm just, so defeated.

Photo of a page with the text: “It may seem that Toffle ad Miffle have fixed roles, he as the rescuer and she as the rescued.” But the lesson in love has a different purpose. It potrays the process of finding courage, irrespective of woman or man, girl or boy, Toffle or Miffle. At first Tove worked with a female Toffle, which can be seen from her manuscript. But as the text began to develop in verse, ‘she’ was crossed out and replaced by 'he’. By this time the text had as its title 'The Romantic Tale of the Lonely Toffle’ and the same structure as the finished book. It is not clear from the draft if the struggle with the Groke and the great salvation would have been achieved by the female Toffle as the principal character, or whether she would have saved a Toffle or a Miffle.“ Screenshot of a page with the number 48 in red followed by a header “The book about the baby Knutt angered feminists.” Above is an illustration of Toffle meeting Miffle in a field of flowers from the book “Who Would Comfort Toffle?” Below is a body of text “The fairy tale ‘Who would comfort the little knutt’ instantly became a bestseller in Scandinavia. However, to feminists, she seemed indecently patriarchal - a man rescues a weak woman. Tove Jansson, however, had something to argue: in her drafts, the knutt was a girl, but when the tale began to to be written in verse, she made it a boy - it was much easier to work with the masculine pronoun.”

She's very adorable! Thank you, that one is inspired by "Who Will Comfort Toffle" because I often call her Toffle (or Knyttet in swedish) when she's extra dramatic 😆🥰

someone mentioned FUTURESHOCK (1970) to me earlier, and my goofy brain went straight to "who will comfort toffler?"
colourful cover to Tove Jansson's book for small children WHO WILL COMFORT TOFFLE?: a group of ppl stabnd in a circle gossiping with one another, including fillyjonk in red, gaffsie in orange, snufkin in green, little my in yellow, a cow-like character in pink, someone i can't identify facing away from us in a nordic winter knit, a classic "small tove beast" unclothed and time in black. toffle is a small goth-emo figure also in black (but clothed) with a beatlish mop of hair, not in the circle but instead looking out at us. below the title is the subtitle: "a tale of Moomin Valley"

Northern English, yes. Awful has a longer aw sound, pretty much like 'awe', whereas offal is shorter, no stress, short O sound. Rhymes with 'toffle', if that was a real word.
