They are leaving because there is no plan. Nothing to spur economic growth, or new jobs, or new hope. Places like Ruapehu or Tokoroa, facing significant job losses without any government support. Taking away support for apprenticeships - not adding. Are we back on track yet?

Yesterday, Camilla Belich and I were in Tokoroa, meeting with workers and community members who face uncertainty if the Oji Kinleith Mill scales back, putting 230 jobs at risk. This would be a huge blow to the community and devastating for Tokoroa.

Over the past few months, the economy is clearly in trouble. Workers are losing their jobs, and places like Tokoroa and Nelson are really feeling the strain. We believe that the electricity market itself is causing some of this harm - with constrained supply driving prices higher
