Starmer's job is to make the UK voting public regret ever voting Labour so that we get another chance 20 years of Toriew, and he's doing it very well.

I just don't understand why a Labour govt would hesitate to press the button on this?

Full "truth and reconciliation" approach, shine sunlight on the putrid underbelly of Russian interference and collaboration with the top of Toriew, Reform, even the media. Why hesitate??

Tactical voting played a huge part in this, looks like Labour, LIb Dems, Greens and Tories all voted to keep Farage out. The Greens and Toriew barely got 1%.

So we've got 4 seats that were Tory still to declare and one new seat that's mostly a previous Labour seat. Which means the absolute most the Toriew can get is 124, which is a joy to see. I mean, I'd like them to have fewer than 100 buy fewer than 130 is also pretty great.
