How can we tackle TP53 mutations which are detected in ~ 52% of #NSCLC & are associated with a worse prognosis?

I learned today from a DNA scientist that elephants rarely get cancer because they have 20 copies of the TP53 gene - a tumor suppressor gene. Humans have only one TP53 gene 🐘

Cohort study #bcsm: At 15 yrs, 3/28 (8.8%) patients w/ TP53 mutation who got radiation (RT) for #breastcancer (BC) had developed an in-field #sarcoma
vs 0/420 controls with BC who got RT. No in-field sarcomas occurred w/o RT or in TP53 VUS carriers w/ RT.

Consistent w/ PDACai (trained on gemcitabine/nab-paclitaxel outcomes) in #pancsm where TP53 LOF is a negative predictor vs to TP53 GOF and wild type subgroups. Any TP53 mutation was a negative predictor for FOLFIRINOX so it might be drug-specific in #lcsm too. #GI25 poster: linktr.ee/discotuba

As someone that's fought cancer twice, I wouldn't wish it on anyone ... Except Trump. I hope his TP53 gets mutated and he can only get treatment via publicly available insurance plans.
