Connor Hellebuyck, the Winnipeg Jets' star goaltender and three-time Vezina Trophy winner, has publicly requested a trade after months of speculation. The 33-year-old player, who also earned an Olympic gold medal with Team USA, confirmed his desire to move teams in a statement released by his agent. Hellebuyck emphasized his commitment to handling the situation respectfully while giving the Jets time to explore options. He stated that training camp approached, making it necessary to publicly confirm his request. The Jets' general manager, Kevin Cheveldayoff, acknowledged Hellebuyck's desire for a change but stressed the team's ongoing efforts to resolve the matter thoughtfully. Hellebuyck's trade request comes after a historic season with the Jets, who achieved their best record in franchise history. His achievements include winning both the Hart Memorial Trophy and Vezina Trophy in 2024-25. Additionally, he received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from U.S. President Donald Trump for his Olympic performance. Fans and analysts have long speculated about Hellebuyck's future, but his public statement marks a significant moment in his career.
