On a woodland pathway today in Burgundy... Amazed at the structure of it and layering. Blackbird nest?

Found this along a tree-lined path today in Burgundy, France. At first, wasn't sure if fungi, but definitely connected to the ground like it. What could it be?

A woodland walk — more of a dawdle — revealed tiny marvels, strewn like spilt treasure: tree rubies, spiral snail shells, pale as alabaster…
Then, just as I stepped into the light, a sleeping beauty nestled in the grass — a Green-veined White, a pale-winged dream at the forest’s edge #TrailTreasure
A four-part collage of woodland finds. Top left: a close-up of a pale spiral snail shell nestled among fallen leaves. Top right: a small arrangement of spiral shells and red and green berries displayed on a fallen beech leaf. Bottom left: a hand cradling another beech leaf, holding a neat line of shells and berries— soft grey, vivid red, and green. Bottom right: a Green-veined White butterfly rests quietly in grass, its wings closed, delicate veins showing faintly through pale scales.

Mini pieces of #mixedmediaart Made for a #awitchyyuletide challenge on Insta. The prompt is 'Gather'. The backgrounds are pieces from an old artwork, the #gingko leaves gathered locally and attached with golden thread and my husband's grandmother's lace.

In addition to #mtbpics I'm gonna start a #trailtreasure tag: all the "treasure" I'm finding on the trails this season.

Nothing quite like the feeling of removing a wildlife death trap before it springs. *wanders off singing "I Hate People"
A trail leading through brush with pine trees on the horizon and a cloudy sky overhead. The photographer's gloved hand gripping a deflated party balloon that she just pulled out of the forest in the background. She is squeezing it like the Mountain killing Pedro Pascal's character from Game of Thrones.
