My very pragmatic answer is: "an independently evolving lineage that reproduces predominantly within itself, and shows distinct seperation from other lineages in one or more non-genetic traits. The more of these secondary traits show clear divergence, the more confident you can be."

since I'm just complaining about porn that is mistagged as intersex i will just keep going. Most porn that is tagged as intersex does not depict or engage with intersex traits at all. Usually the genitals are not ambiguous and actual traits like micropenis/macroclit

aren't ever depicted. I think it would be awesome to have more porn of intersex characters, its just that the porn that exists is just so painfully perisexual and shows how little people actually know or care about our bodies or traits at all. If anything our intersex traits are deemed undesirable

I mean I can defs see how Alastor and Lucifer have a lot of stereotypically popular pairing traits (old sexy men, enemies to lovers, and a sense of forbidden tension to it)

i know the common line to apply here is "we should be careful about anthropomorphizing animals and ascribing human traits to them" but who decided that these traits are exclusive to humans? many of these animal species predate modern humans (homo sapiens) entirely

i think any nsfw art of characters with mixed sex traits is cool and it is somewhat of a complex question because there are multiple different kinds of having mixed sex traits.
