A spatiotemporal lifecycle atlas decodes spatial coordination in rice
A 3D spatiotemporal cell atlas of rice spanning the entire seed-to-seed lifecycle. Developmental trajectories are captured, and the spatially distinct roles of OsARF1 in rice development and dorsoventral endosperm asymmetry related to starch and protein accumulation are revealed.

Opinion: The economics of AI

This article heavily emphasizes the operational and infrastructure costs, but it underplays the systemic risk introduced by forcing such massive, long-duration financing onto uncertain AI demand and technological trajectories. If the financing structure…

Maya Jeffereis on her efforts toward ecological darkroom practices and allowing plants to “speak” through film.
Position Spaces __ Maya Jeffereis
__A position space is the set of all position vectors in the fundamental space of geometry. If the position vector of a point particle varies with time, it will trace out a path, which marks the trajectory of a particle.__ __This short interview series traces given lines of thought by artists, marks the trajectories of their practice, and models the physical and ideological space of the contemporary art world across a finite dimension.__ #### ****In partnership with**** The Immigrant Artist Biennial **What recent exhibition did you see that made a strong impression on you and why?** I recently rewatched _Hiroshima mon amour_(1959) directed by Alain Resnais and written by Marguerite Duras while I was researching and filming in Hiroshima, my ancestral homeland. The film is a deeply impactful meditation on private pain and public tragedy in the aftermath of the atomic bomb. In the opening sequence two lovers entwine, their skin a landscape covered in a blanket of ash. Cutting between scenes of intimacy, archival footage of the aftermath, and reenacted scenes, the film enmeshes past and present, memory and forgetting. Their dialogue is a series of assertions met with negations: an insistence on witnessing but not seeing, knowing and not knowing, forgetting and remembering. I first saw the film before I ever visited Hiroshima. Walking through the city, I was looking for traces of the past. **What are you working on right now and where will you present your work next?** I’m currently working on a new film installation centered around Hiroshima _hibakujumoku_ (atomic bomb survivor trees) as a metaphor for survival and resistance amidst total devastation, and a meditation on how land holds memory. During the atomic bombing, my family both perished and survived. Relatedly, trees that withstood the explosion bloomed the following spring, offering survivors hope that life could flourish again. While in Hiroshima, I visited as many of the surviving trees that I could locate. Gathering leaves that fell from the trees, I made phytograms on 16mm (a photographic technique that utilizes the internal chemistry of plants to create images on emulsion). One species of hibakujumoku includes ginkgo trees – a living connection between the past and present. Not only did they withstand the atomic blast, they also survived the asteroid impact that led to the extinction of the dinosaurs. Using plant-based developers, I hand-processed 16mm footage I filmed around the city as well as archival imagery in an effort toward ecological darkroom practices that wouldn’t impart more toxins in a land already devastated by radiation, fires, and black rain. I find myself moving more toward abstraction in this film, as traces of leaves flicker and flash across the screen. Because I made the phytograms on sound stock, their impressions are actually audio recordings, allowing the plants to “speak” through the film. In this work, I’m thinking about the interiority of plants, trees as witness, deep time, and how we might envision a radical, sustainable, and liberatory future. This fall, my work will show at the Seeds of Change Conference in Manchester, the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival, and The Immigrant Artist Biennial in Brooklyn. In February 2027, my work will be included in _Invention into Existence_ , a group exhibition __ curated by Swagato Chakravorty at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle. **What are the biggest challenges in sustaining your practice?** Living in precarity amid state violence, genocide, and environmental devastation, how do we remain community and action-oriented while also holding expansiveness, capaciousness, and the space for dreams? Maya Kaminishi Jeffereis__is Japanese-South Asian-American artist and filmmaker whose work in video installation and experimental film brings overlooked histories to light and speaks to archival gaps through counter narratives, ancestral histories, and speculative fictions. Jeffereis’ work has been presented in the United States and internationally, including Museum of Fine Arts Boston, Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Brooklyn Museum, The Noguchi Museum, Queens Museum, Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, and Columbus Museum of Art, among other institutions. Her work has screened in international film festivals including Images Festival, Third Horizon Film Festival, and Cosmic Rays, among others. Jeffereis is currently an artist-in-residence at International Studio & Curatorial Program, and has participated in residencies at Pioneer Works, Banff Centre for Arts & Creativity, and Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts. She is a recipient of the Foundation for Contemporary Creative Research Grant, Foundation for Contemporary Art Emergency Grant, and A.I.R. Gallery Fellowship. She teaches art, art history, and Asian American Studies at Parsons School of Design at The New School and Hunter College (CUNY). She earned a MFA from Hunter College and BA and BFA degrees from the University of Washington.__

Dozens of labs pooled ~1M trajectories for Open X-Embodiment; one Chinese fleet claims parity on its own. But paid non-expert teleop is noisy, and imitation learning punishes that fast. Volume is the easy half — I'd still take 10k curated demos over a million crowdsourced ones.
Interview with Mifeng CEO Yao Maoqing: The era of nationwide participation in embodied data collection has arrived
In an exclusive interview with Jiazi Guangnian, Mifeng Technology CEO Yao Maoqing argues that data — not algorithms — is the real bottleneck for embodied AI, and lays out an ambitious plan to scale embodied data collection from hundreds of thousands to tens of billions of hours through crowdsourcing, franchising and body-less wearable devices.

mb most illiberal take is that anything like conscience or integrity doesn't have the kind of foundation needed to make it real, what actually drives us is residue left by our trajectories of socialization across multiple informal institutions refracted through the primordial formlessness of mind

My dad was the only person in his family to graduate from high school. He never went to college.

He was in some classes in the Army related to artillery - there’s some math involved with trajectories.

He was very good at layout design.
