Kettou Transformers Beast Wars: Beast Senshi Saikyou Ketteisen on Game Boy Color! It's a Japanese exclusive companion game of sorts to Beast Wars Transmetals on N64.

The GBC version was done by the studio that worked on the GB conversions of SNK's fighters (Fatal Fury Special, KoF 95, etc.)!

The one my sister had also snapped. The Takara BW Metals version is safe from that, but on account of that point it's always gone for mad money on the secondary market.

We've been without new TransMetals for so long (POTP Optimal Optimus notwithstanding), I'm psyched they're finally going there.

Transmetals were around by early '99 for sure - I remember this because my girlfriend at the time got me Transmetals Rhinox for Valentine's Day. When they actually appeared on pegs though I cannot remember - don't think it was long before then, though.

I was at university in Hull from Sept 98, and I know at some point I saw BW in Woolies, but as I was out of the TF business at that point, I didn't pay any attention to what sort of BW they were. They were deluxe, possibly Transmetals?

Transformers Beast Wars Transmetals is an interesting fighter, known for have two distinct versions: A N64 one only found exclusively at Blockbuster and a PS1. Its a weird arena fighter that features some fair CPUs.

A zoomed in camera aimed at Tarantulas, getting a better look at his red and black armor, doing a squatting fight stance while holding that round saw gun thing and waving his little claw hand, it's adorable. A closeup of Starscream, who is just a palette swap of Waspinator in his old green armor form with purple boobs and a fighter jet cockpit for a cock (very fitting), doing a hearty laugh while spreading his pale pink insectoid wings. Another closeup, showing Rattrap with his weird exposed brain helmet, also doing a fighting stance and showing off his cool, shiny, chromed body, with the brown rat bits kinda arranged on his back like he's got a big rat-themed hiking equipment because he's just really into rats (I don't blame him). A closeup of Ravage (who is, again, just a palette swapped Cheetor), looking slick in his black armor and the few brighter armor bits, standing kinda awkwardly with a slump, probably being a bit shy because of all the spotlight while the word "Perfect!" is displayed in an also silver chromed font, because he's just a perfect lil' robot.

Optimus Primal in his gorilla form facing the camera with a big grin while standing on a lovely grassy field with some mountains in the back and Rattrap in his rat form just being a rat, doing rat things, showing his teeth with a clenched jaw and honestly looking kinda like a Ninja Turtle with a slightly longer snout. A palette swapped Cheetor, turned into Ravage with a dark silver and black armor, running towards Tarantulas who is showing off his eight legs on his back like a peacock while charging up some kind of round blade gun thing. Cheetor versus Tarantulas in their Beast forms as the Tarantulooser shoots a web out of his butt right over the cat-bot's head. Rattrap swinging his spiky tail with a red spiky spike on top while standing on his two front legs, asserting his dominance at Blackarachnia who is basically a palette swap of Tarantulas, with the camera stubbornly keeping pretty far away even when the opponents aren't this far from each other so it's hard to get a good look at the cool chromed out robots with some many shiny bits and often being very hard to parse out what they actually look like, but that's just the 90's baby!

Megatron, finally being defeated by the Maximals, is being transported back to Cybertron but he manages to send a message back in time to his younger self, changing the course of history and causing several Transformers to evolve into their Transmetal forms and becoming even more fabulous than ever before. Here we have the cheeky Cheetor, running around a sandy desert with his yellow spotted cheetah armor, looking like he's frolicking in the sand along with Tarantulas (who is a tarantula), a shiny golden Predacon with red armor bits, many eyes on his chest and even more spiky spider legs on his back, looking like he tripped over a little rock and is about to smush his face in the sand, followed by a hearty laugh. A gloomy gray cave with a surreal purple background, looking like a stage for a Power Rangers battle with the greenscreen not calibrated properly, showing the fight between Waspinator in his Beast mode, turning into a big blue wasp with yellow eyes, red body and green wings, flying towards Rattrap, shiny chrome robot with a blue torso and brown rat bits on his back, holding his robo-gun and getting ready to squish this insect. A pale purple field surrounded by purple (energon?) crystals as Airazor and Terrorsaur fly around each other in their Beast forms, a hot falcon lady with blueish purple colors and a gold and red pterodactyl, respectively, showing no respect as they prolong the battle indefinitely with neither side letting down, so the chase goes on. The big boys, Optimus Primal in his Beast mode, a gorilla with brown and silver armor with a big grin on his blue head, which he's currently holding dangerously close inside Megatron's T-Rex maw, just doing a little trick or Megatron possibly asking Optimus to check if there's a little fish bone stuck in his gob.

This game might sound and look interesting, but let me assure you it is not.

I bought a used copy of this game for #N64 at Blockbuster Video in 2003. When I got home, I was immediately disappointed by the awful controls, camera, and selection of fighters.

Just terrible! 😩

Then of course with the modern toys, we got Kingdom and the lines after gave us all of the Season 1 cast as well as the two fuzors and the exclusive Ravage and even repaints.

I hope we get the Transmetals and Transmetals 2 in the near future, something to properly commemorate this peak show. 2/2
