Look that Treerat in the eye when you snuff out its frail and delicate flame of life; when you swing that sword at its tiny head, as it looks back at you with sad tears in its eyes. Give it a clean and honorable death. It's the least you can do, after tearing apart another family of animals.

This little guy is the Treerat -- a recurring monster in Etrian Odyssey, and one of the weakest. They appear in all of the games except EO2/2U and EO5. In 3, 4, and both Mystery Dungeon games, they have the skill Deadly Incisor, which is just the normal attack but stronger.

You may notice that every game after EO3 refers to it as Tree Rat, and not Treerat. I'd love to explain why that's the case, but I need post ideas for the future.
