We built a heath h8 in ’77 for our school’s computer club. Our math teacher managed to get funding which seems incredible now. BOCES had a mainframe we could dial into, and the school had a 110 baud Olivetti mechanical terminal. Paper tape, the whole deal. (Below). Trek73!

They took away our Trek73. We were not happy.

Drop something from the 1970s. Trek73, which we used to play on a high school Decwriter with a phone cradle back in 1978.

Is it a clone when the game you're cloning was released after you? Colonel Luebbert's Star Trek (1972) is a "Trek73-clone" that predates Trek73. Pretty limited as a game (1972 after all), but I had a lot to say about its author, who introduced computers to West Point.

Punch cards for my computer class in 1978. We had a decwriter in the guidance department that we could put a phone in the cradle, hooked up to the University of Michigan’s network, and we would play Trek73 online. Though they did teach me basic.

I rocked a TI-99 back in the day. Program load from an audio tape. I played Trek73 on the terminal in the college computer lab, too.

I can remember when a saved game was a literal printout.
