I think maybe the bottom half of the list is not 100% set on exact placement but the top 4 games definitely shaped most of my tastes.
I'd say "they don't make games like these anymore", but actually we do have Trepang, SOMA, Alyx, Two Point games, and RoN.

And lastly, I finished Trepang² last night! I don't play FPS games at all, but I wanted to give it a try after watching a video essay on it.
I was very bad at the game, so I am not getting all the achievements~ But the story was pretty fun, and being a BADASS GUN MAN felt pretty fun!

Started playing Trepang² since I've been replaying F.E.A.R. and I already owned it. It's alright. It definitely gets the spectacle right and I like that they give you the cloak from Crysis, but I don't know, I feel like my eyes are glazing over after like an hour or two.

just finished Trepang²! Neat FEAR-like FPS with cool action movie gunfights and tons of slow-mo hijinks. it's not *as* fun as it looks unfortunately, I think it lacks something to gel the mechanics together and you just end up spamming the same moves over and over, but it's good enough.
