I have been in court before
The magistrate and I had a little chat
He told me I would pay a heavy price
If I plead Not Guilty

My counterpoint was doing that
I would leave words unsaid

Luckily I did no Guilty plea

Don't judge me as I live my life
By trial and error

Trial and error is a pianist
searching for a melody,
pressing keys in
mismatched chords
until the notes stop resisting
and the harmony
finally reveals itself.
Each measure is practiced,
and with patience,
the music pieces itself together.
